I snagged this 1990's? 1980's white-collared dress from the depths of the internet and am very pleased with it. I'm always down for a contrasted collar. It can be hard to ensure a good fit when shopping online, but I lucked out with this piece and it buttons up snug, flattering my figure. Corset Prom Dresses
The weather wavers on the west coast and it may seem too hot for boots and capes right now, but that ocean breeze can be chilly! Layering is so key - I hate being too warm/too cold when I'm out and about all day, (or night!)
Lydia gave me these Topshop boots because she is the best ever. I wear them, at some point, almost every day. Fingers crossed they last long and enjoy many adventures!
I've been listening to the Lou Reed album Sally Can't Dance all weekend. He's one of my favourite musicians to listen to in the summertimes.view more
I was eager to style these burnt orange socks I received from Tabbisocks! I am someone who prefers to add a "pop of colour," (not a huge fan of fashion clichés,) to an outfit with an accessory or small detail. As someone attracted to neutrals and subtle shades, (though I have been experimenting with brighter hues, lately!) I stuck to a palette of navy and pulled on my contrasting orange socks as a bright note to finish my look.
I generally keep my wardrobe down to a few colours that compliment each other, so it's easy to assemble a coordinated outfit in the bleary morning hours. Or whenever. It's just easier when everything matches. It also adds to the illusion that I own a bigger wardrobe than I prefer to - since I can mix-and-match almost everything I own. It's nice to wear something like orange crochet over-the-knee socks to shake up my habit of wearing similar tones.
This hat is probably the best two dollars I will ever spend in my life! I'm so taken with it - I've been wearing it almost every day since the weekend. Too bad it's been windy - not great for hat weather! I feel like I'm rambling, so I'll type about this dress's thrift to wear transition on another post...
I would just like to mention: a few posts back I mentioned graduating and I was so touched by all the encouraging comments that were left! Thanks so much for the support, guys. It warms the cackles of this old heart.
